The Boys' Leaders Club, under the sponsorship of Coaches Volpe and Gugliotta, has 65 active mem- bers. The purpose of the club is to help create ath- letic incentive as well as to serve the school in many other capacities. The ofhcers of the club are: President, Richard Berg, Vice President, Frank Chimento, and Secre- tary, Wayne Lampe. At their scheduled meetings the leaders discuss and carry out plans for trips and diversified sports events. These leaders assist the coach in gym class by supervising calesthenics, ref- ereeing basketball games and wrestling matches, demonstrating tumbling, and umpiring baseball games. The boys also assist as ushers during ath- letic events, and serve asnhandy men during the annual Gym Night exhibition. The boys are chosen for the club on their qualifications-character, ability, and sense of re- sponsibility. Most of the members inducted into the Boys' Leaders Club during the past year consisted of sophomores and juniors. These leaders will pro- vide a firm base for the ever-growing organization during the new school year. The Boys' Leaders Club, having just come into its own during the past few years, has been in need of money. The hard working members have spon- sored fund-raising activities such as a dance, a faculty basketball game, and Boys' Gym Night. With the proceeds from these functions, the boys have purchased Leaders Club uniforms as well as athletic awards for boys who have participated on various school teams. All in all the Leaders Club has proved itself a fine asset to W.W.H.S. 63
