A great deal of paperwork and drudgery is involved in the operation ot a school system. The execution of cer- tain tiresome duties is handled efficiently and 'admirably by the administrators and staff of the district office. Above and beyond these occasionally menial tasks, they constantly strive for the better- ment of education in District 13. They are to be duly commended for their tire- less efforts and their abundance of com- munity spirit. rj- David VVestermann, Lawrence Sommer, James Robinson H Ceoige lxiohley I zu I zfszdcnt William C, Walker, l'rcsidz'nf, Walter D. CHARLES CONNELL Being a principal is not the easiest job in the world. One is constantly exposed to the wrath of vindictive people, constantly besieged with paperwork and red tape, and constantly supporting the burdens inherent in an educational institution. Mr. Connell, in his first year at the helm, has shown himself to be more than cap- able. Working diligently, he has managed to further elevate the standards of Walt Whitman. He has dis- tinguished himself in his new role. Though conscien- tious in his duties, he is none the less a thoroughly affable gentleman. i l if .,51A,Q:,,,g..i z K. V V, DR. CHRISTENSEN New to Walt Whitman in 1958, Dr. Louis Chris- tensen came from the Bronxville, New York, public school system to replace Mrl Connell as assistant prin- cipal. Since his job is one that affords day to day con- tact with the student body and faculty, it wasn't long before Dr. Christensen's ever-present smile and friendly greeting became an integral part of the chang- ing school scene. Not content to sit in one place an entire day, he frequently walks the corridors making inquiries and maintaining order. After one year and a job well done, Dr. Christensen holds as evidence the friendship of many students and the faculty. A more promising omen would be difficult to find. 1.35-, 21.5-ig - ia--ifkiiigfgw-Y L- , 4 -Jfbff Y Ab i .
