as A04 T7 if ew OUR IFORIEION VISITORS 'Ziff if MY. ...... 41 Sharing the spotlight during the first weeks of 1959 were two foreign visitors, Miss Kaarina Honka- pohja of Finland and Mr. Bisidthisak Subarnbhesaj of Thailand. Though at first understandably confused about the goings-on at Whitman, the two weren't strangers very long. Hosted by Liz Brown and Richard Babcock, they mingled with the student body, attended classes, did homework, enjoyed parties, and commented on things American. As part of the program arranged by the New York Herald Tribune Youth Forum, Whitman was the first of four American schools each would visit. Surprised at the number and variety of non-academic courses offered at WWHS, each envied his American counterparts for the comparatively easy work load and rather'informal atmosphere. At the end of the two week visit, it was obvious that Kathy and Sak had made many friends here. Finland and Thailand are now, too, better understood by us. 1
