Wzrsjty Football In experjen ce Leads To A DISZPPOIDIIDCQ Season The young and inexperienced 1983 Walsh jesuit Varsity Football team finished their season with re- ord of 1-9. The co-captains who ead the team on to the victory were Eeniors Fred Pausch, Bill Monday nd Kevin Haasz. The highlight of the season was he first game of the season in which he Warriors defeated the Columbus Elfatkins Memorial Team by a score f 21-8. This broke a two year leigh- een gamel winning streak for the Eolumbus Team. On the opening ick-off of the game, jeff Fortney 'an 95 yards for a touchdown. Another high point of the season as the Warrior's battle against the eam from Cincinatti Moeller at the ubber Bowl. Cincinatti Moeller was he defending Division I champion and was expected to crush the War- riors. However, the Warriors put up a good fight and made the Cincinatti Team work for their victory. The final score was 43-13. Although the season record does not speak well of the Team and the Team was young and inexperienced, four team members were named to the All Inter-County Conference First Team. These were Tom Crosbie and Fred Pausch, on offense, and Bob Metzger and Sean Dean, on defense. Tom Crosbie and Sean Dean were named to the All-Sum- mit County Second Team. Fred Pausch and Bob Metzger also re- ceived honorable mention for All District play.
