Walsh Students Foot The Bill October brought what has become a regular tradition at Walsh: The annual Walk. This year's walk was shortened from ten to eight miles and was on the bike trail between Stow and Hudson. Students collected pledges and money from contributors, then put on hiking boots, or tennis shoes, or in the case of Mr. Ritchie's cross-country team, running shoes, and went on the journey. The Mothers' Club assisted with refreshments and lunch at the end of the Walk. Mr. Regis Lekan was the moderator of the 1983 Walk. He used several new means this year to get pledges in from lazy students. Among the methods were the use of faculty members on Walk Announcements, including the famous announcement by You Know Who: I want you zeros to get some money! KNO Class, Mr. Hasenstabll Others included contributing all money in excess of the 28,000 dollar goal to student council. Student Council Obtained 1,300 dollars for other school activities. Another was the giving of individual free days to students who brought in the forty dollar per man goal. The Walk was its usual success, and will pay for many extracurricular activities here at Walsh.
