HIGH SR MARCHING 18 ACTIVITIES Marching band is more than 200 peo- ple walking around a football fietd play- ing their instruments. It involves precise footwork, the ability to remember in- tricate patterns, and flawless instrumen- tation. This year's edition, under the direction of Mr. Kruze and drum majors Jay Kanerva and Lajoyce Mullins. had a very successful year. with competitions at Norwood. Edgewood, Music Bowl, and Western Hills. The highlight of the year was the Miamisburg Competition, where the band received two first and four sec- ond place awards and later received a berth in State Finals. ACTIVITIES 19 P-Nuts 85 was written and performed in the true P-Nuts tradition. Complete with strong and the always entertaining Horses and Ponies, the show could have been a big success. Unfortunately, P-Nuts ,85 will be remembered mostly for its closing night. The show was stopped in mid-scene and the crowd sent home due to the SeniorsI boisterousness and the Juniors' provocation. Talk of canceling future P-Nuts halted after students representing both classes at- tended a Parents' Board meeting and gave several remedies to the ever present problem of class com- petition during P-Nuts' performances. P-Nuts l86 will definitely set a new trend in tradition, but will hopefully continue the spirit of class unity that has always prevailed. 20 ACTIVITIES PARTICIPANTS Sarah Chard. John Penn. Another year, another victory in the annual Rem-Chatterbox Softball Game. Untortunately, there is a rumor going around that Chatterbox actually won this year's game talong with last yearls and the year before that, and . . J. But of course we all know that just isnlt true. This year's victory was brought about by a combination of great pitching. fielding. and hitting. in the words of the spectacular pitcher and co-manager of the Rem team Oren Strikumout Weisberg We felt that we would come out ahead it we scored lots of runs, played great defense, and held them scorelesst Well Mr. Weisberg, your plan worked. His third base man and co-manager Dan Little Gretzky Fuchs proclaimed l was amazed at our talent. The real stars at the game were John J J;H Just, who went 3 for 5 with 2 homeruns. and Chris Maddog Carney, 2'4 with 3 REE. The winning run was scored when the managers oi the Chat- terbox erred in the field. Thirdbasewoman Jenny Variand dropped a fly ball hit by Just, picked up the ball and threw home. Rob Whetsel dropped the throw to the plate and Carney slid in safely. Nice try Jen and Rob. A round of applause should be given to Rob Adams, Louie Hollmeyer, and Charlie Crocg of the Chatterbox teamt Though they tried, the three just couldn,t pull their team up to the level of The Rem team. Not the Weiners Rem hits another Home Run Here we see the Editors-ln-Chiet of both the Chatterbox Uenny Variand and Rob Whetsell and Remembrancer iDan Fuchs and Oren Weisbergt discussing strategy for the game. They decided to use the same strategy for the game as they used all year in dealing with the incompetent people with which they worked; namely to rely strictly on their own Skills. 60 C-BOX WINS . Then show them the latest statistics released by the Cincinnati Board of Education, which shows that, in standardized testing, Walnut Hills was once again heads above the rest this year. 1 16 FACULTY Still need more proof? How about the fact that Walnut Hills again had more Na- tional Merit Semi-Finalists than any other school in Cincinnati?
