LATIN AND MODERN LANGUAGE WiTh The increasing amounT oT emphasis placed on inTer- naTional aTTairs Today. The sTudy and The knowledge oT a Tor- eign language have become exTremely imporTanT. WalnuT l-lills is one oT The 'few schools which has a six-year LaTin course. Three years oT which are compulsory. ATTer Three years a sTudenT may conTinue. or may Take a modern lan- guage-German, French or Spanish. The hisTory and cus- Toms of The various counTries are offered along wiTh The vo- cabulary and grammar of The languages. ,ENGLISH English, an essenTial in The curriculum and Tor use in sTudy, is sTressed aT Walnuf l-lills. The slcill oT composiTion, grammar proTiciency and reading comprehension are all emphasized. A six-year course is compulsory, as English is used in all oTher subiecTs. Emphasis is placed on liTeraTure and reading com- prehension. OuTsTanding sTudenTs are eligible To Take a Three-year Advanced STanding Course.
