An innovation in the program ot the speech department was a Thanksgiving assembly.

This year the program, including an advanced-standing Latin course, continued to maintain its tradi- tional importance in our school. The seventh and eighth graders studied the fundamental grammar ot the language, while the upper school students read Caesar's Gallic VVars and the immortal works ot Virgil and Cicero. Virgil was also introduced into the Latin ll V cur- riculum. The study ot modern languages also is becoming increasingly important. In the French, German, and Spanish classes toreign literature in the original tongues is read and discussed. 21
