ORGANIZATIONS Marching Blues Play a Busy Season A major part of the excitement that accompanied this year’s football season was that provided by the Walnut High School Marching Blues. The Marching Blues played hard to pep up the crowd at pep rallies, assemblies, and at games. Thanks go to the Marching Blues for a fine showing and continued support throughout the year. Director Mrs. Bass writing many constructive notes. 45 Honor Society Inducts Nine Juniors Scholarship, leadership, service, and character are the four qualifications for membership in the National Honor Society. Candidates must have at least a B in all classes and be voted into the organization by the faculty. The Don Marquis Chapter of Walnut High School formally inducted nine juniors into the Society May 21, 1984 in a candlelighting service in the auditorium before parents, teachers, and friends. Mrs. Marcia Glaser is the organization's sponsor. Brian Warling is the 1984 president, Margo Guither is the vice-president, and Kim Oberle is the secretary-treasurer. Noel Carr and Todd Atwell were elected delegates. A summer meeting, a father-son pork roast, was held at Clevenger’s pond. In the fall the FFA test plots at Woodleys and at Henkel Observation plot owned by Doc Smith were harvested. The bean plot at Bureau Township was done later. Tables were set up for the Bureau Cty. Soil and Water Conservation Day at Dean Ganschow's. Officers went to John Pogliano's for a Super Cross Field Day. Livestock judging and a pork supper were February activities. Advisor John DeMay. Each day of the week was special with attire for the day designated by the cheerleading squad. Each evening the classes worked on their floats.
