CLASS PROPHECY Durlng the wlnter of 1956 I had the opportumty to h1re someone capable and trustworthv enough to leave my respons1b1l1t1es to for a few weeks whxle I came to my home town of Walnut for a v1s1t I knew the g1rl I hlred to take my place durxng a slack perlod was xery responslble slnce she was a mem ber of the class of 46 Thxs g1rl the former Jeanne Anders n now Mrs Art Van de Clentenlo could manage my nursery for homeless chlldren dogs and other rodents very well For my other pos1t1on I found another sultable per son I flew up IH by B 29 a cross between a B 19 and a P 38 Upon my arrlval I landed at a beautlful alrport one ex ample of how my small home town had developed to a prosperlng c1ty 'lh1s alrport was managed by Jack Edmond son and h1s Wlfe the former Phylhs Johnson I started out after talklng to Jack a much stretched out Maln street I saw a large neon slgn flashmg Charlles Cafe to the publlc When I walked ln I could see Dals httle restaurant had surely changed I suppose to keep up w1th the town Then seelng a sharp mustached gentleman comlng to greet me 1 recognlzed hlm as Charles F1sher After talklng to hlm for a wh1le he asked lf Id l1ke to meet h1s Wlfe and chlef cook Upon my answer he walked to the rear and escorted someone forth whom I knew I should recognlze And why rot?
