Mr. Larry Studt Mrs. Kathy Torosian Mrs. Lois Tucker Walnut's English Department offered an elective program for l0th, I lth, and l2th grades. This is the program's second year. There are four nine week periods during which several electives are offered. A com- position class is required for one, nine- week period. This program allows the stu- dent to choose an area which interests him and allows the teacher to specialize and concentrate on a subiect. The elective courses offered vary greatly - Mass Media, Creative Writing, Mythol- ogy, Great Authors, Contemporary Prob- lems, Dynamics of Communication. Stu- dent response to the program is favorable. A survey taken at the end of last year showed that a great maiority of the stu- dents favored the English Elective Program over the yearly program. Top right: Mr. Landerer converses with students on campus. Bottom right: Students work in one of Mrs. Parmer's English classes. F' T 7 - . . ..
