The Thespians at Walnut High School are all mem- bers of the International Thespian Society, which is devoted to the ad- vancement and improvement of the- atre arts in high schools. The Thes- pian Society works to educate students in the performing arts and related subjects, and to advance standards and create an enthusiastic and intel- ligent interest in the theatre. To be- come a member one must be active in drama, earning points for partici- pation. After accumulating the nec- essary number of points, new mem- bers go through an informal initiation fwhich is really a surprise attackj, and later a formal initiation. ? 'V I S' S' . - rf I , 4 -ww, M, E 'N Thespzans E . -Z 'XO , - This year Walnut's Thespian Soc- iety sponsored a dance and produced a Halloween movie for the enjoyment of the students. They also held a Rummage Sale in May. The Drama Department, under the fine leadership of advisor Mr. Betts, has had many successful dramatic undertakings this year 'lhese include a Christmas Program with music, five major pro- ductions, and Cinderella,' which toured grade schools on a mini-grant.
