GrumbIes . I am here to represent the Senior Class of 1950 in our one and only chance to talk back to our abusers. We have suffered much in our past four years of ' 'book larning , but we have borne it all in the silence and dignity suitable for people of our high standards. Now we are going to tell you a few things so just pull up a chair and set, Qand Miss Louise don't correct my English, for one time I talk as I want toj. You all talk of our Senior privileges, what privilege's I ask you? So far I can see none. We have been abused by our under- grades. Even the Freshmen fail to look up to us, and the Soph- omores even laugh at our blunders. The Juniors share every- thing we have, except our wounded pride. Why our teachers even correct us in front of under-grades. n We have no desk, but have to sit at tables in the same room with the Juniors. People never seem to remember that we al- most adults and that we have great dignity. All the under-grades jeer at us whenever they see that they can wound our pride. Even the Freshmen dare speak in our presence and even they get by with things we Seniors don't. We have listened to endless fussing and undeserved reprov- ings but now it is only fair that I tell you that you wasted all your breath and also your time. We only pretended to listen, it went in one ear and out the other. Instead of burning the midnight oil studying our lessons, we burned it thinking up ways to repay you for not understanding that we are privileged and should be looked up to. Nobody seems to understand us, everybody tries to run over us. We have to work all the time All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy . We suffer all these told and untold anguishes and then people say we grumble. The following GRUMBLES are characteristic of the class. Mary E.: Oh heck, I graduate this year : Irene: Having the mumps in Senior year : June: All I have to do : Lillian: I grum- ble when I don't have anything else to do : Mamie: I grumble at grumbling people : Alma Lee: No baby pictures : Inez: These men teachers : Eugene Wild: We need more younger teachers: hnogene: All these lessons : Wesley: The long hard years of college ahead : Lloyd: English text book Authors : Morgan: Everything: Helen: Anything : Ella: French : Rita: To many girls after my boy friend' ': Ava Etta: People Won't leave my boy friend alone: Jean: To much work Wallace: Nothing : Mary V To much to do and no time to do it in : Marvin: Does anybody have a pencil : Billy J.: Too much study hall : Margaret: Too many nosey people : Pansey: Can't eat, sleep, drink and be merry in study hal1Z': Floyd: 'Some of the other things : Freeda: Too much General Business : Herbert: Some of the other grumbles . Class grumbler Lloyd Roberts 17
