He dei- veloped small but fast cleverly coached quintet, D Q which was called The Almost County Champs after droping a heart-breaking final game to Sheridan by b one point- They had defeated the highly favored Q LNN Jackson Central team in the opening game. Coach X QL Hiatt has been training the younger boys into out- sl X stlnding players for the future. ' 'Y X .sv 13 'Ronald Mpllller Ronald, leading scorer of the R XX team, was vary' dependable in taking the ball off Q the bank boards because of his ability to jump. Q, 'ff We're sorry to lose Ronald after four years of P ,A varsity balls He was All'-County and All-Sectional W in 1945 and All-County in 1946 winning the Sports- Q- manship Award at the 1946 Hamilton County Tourna- fe 'l ment. J x' 'Jack Brown Jack, the fastest boy on the P team, played regular forward position and'was on if the end of most of the fast-breaks. Brown, being Q, fast., on his feet, was usually given the opposing Q team's fastest player to guard. He was named on gi the All--County Team :bn 1946 and was the only mem- sl K ber of the squad to receive Honorable Mention in Q he the 1946 Sectional. if Bill Stoo s Bill, the outstanding defensive ,Q player of the team for two years, was usually R given the opposing center to hold which is a great F task for he was smaller than most centers. He was gy V named to the All-County Team zhn 1946 and we are PQ Q5 sure the team will miss him next season. QQ gy Paul Hiday Paul was the smallest boy on the X V M starting f ve, but that did not stop his offensive , 4 pl ability. He was very fast and could hit from any . angle on the floor. He helped hold the team to- gether- in the tight spots by his fighting spirit. sl A i

Q Q Kenneth' Fox Although Kenneth did not see much actlon, he was a tough guard and good ball g 5 handlller. He had the fighting spirit and was loyal to t e team. e Joe McCarty This was Joe's first year as a P substitute on the varsity squad. He has shown 49 N f plenty of promise and is hard to guard under the , Xgyifgx N basket. He has two more years and much is expected X XM l of hint 1 Q e Don Carson Like McCarty, Carson played sub- Q -V stitute on the varsity squad. He is a good shot K from the forward position and much is expected of Q, nf him in the next two years.. b K Gene Fountain Gene the tallest boy on the ., squad, Is expected to use'his height to an advan- i tags next year and control the rebounds. R2 Merrig Mgers Merrill played substitute on 4 gl the varslfty s year. He is a good ball handler X' and is expected to do his part next year.
