J Uur PHI EIPAI. NELLIE MARIE QUINN ln September l953 Miss Nellie Marie Quinn was greeted by Wal ler High School as our new prm cipal ln the months that have passed since then Miss Quinn has become known to all ot us. We looked for her at basketball games and were always rewarded by hear- ing her cheer as enthusiastically as any of us. We saw her at the music festivals, applauding our choruses. We saw her sharing our laughter at the senior plays. Those ot us who participated in these activities were delighted at her personal recogni- tion of the contributions we made to the success ot the events. We have come to know our principal as one who is sincerely pleased when we succeed, sincerely interested in our problems and in our welfare, and sincerely dedicated to helping us realize our full potentialities.

rm--wer MARY RYAN : nv . ' Occasionally one meets a person who is com- pletely happy in her Work, perfectly fitted for it, and admirably in accord with her associates. Such a per- son Was Mary Ryan, a teacher at Waller since l935. Waller lost Miss Ryan last November, after an ill- ness of a few months, and with her passing We lost, and her profession lost, a person of unusual versatility and talents. During the course of her teaching career Miss Ryan had been the chairman of a music depart- ment, the attendance officer and assistant principal at Waller Branch, and the drama coach and teacher of senior elective English here in the main building. Her vivid personality impressed itself upon all her pupils. So long as one of them lives, Miss Ryan Will not be forgotten, but will be remembered with joy. To honor her memory We, the graduating class of Iune, l953, dedicate this, our yearbook, to our dear friend and beloved teacher, Miss Mary Ryan. - it Y V V , . ,...aq.,.,.
