Miss lluinrfs Message in the Graduates Each generation must pass its test in the march ot American progress and security. We have experienced three wars in the last thirty-six years and have undergone the most violent economic adjustment in the history of our nation. You have no personal recollection of World War I and barely a measure ot appreciation ot the deprivations and shock of the early nineteen thirties. But tor your parents, these events left scars. World Vlfar ll and our problems in Korea and the Orient today are an ever-present threat to our American Independence. As Waller graduates you have come to understand some of the essen- tials required for honest dealing among nations. Our inheritance gives us the obligation to support moral values throughout the world, not only Within our own borders. You have awakened to the tact that American standards oi moral and spiritual values must be earned and paid for through our will- ingness to exercise them in our daily lives. Having inherited the rules tor democratic living, we can keep the priv- ileges ot such living only as we share our understanding and benefits with those among us and with the peoples beyond our borders. We must deter- mine to assist others to see and appreciate the true values ot equitable living standards and then to aid others in attaining these values we enjoy. Together, we at Waller have identified objectives and provided means for the development ot these objectives: Character, Leadership, and Service. ln your daily school experience you created circumstances that gave you an opportunity to gain a comprehensive foundation oi democratic rules and standards. Now you face a new world. May the good work of your high school days always remain an inspiration to good citizenship.
