SALUTATORIAN 'CN AR. GOOD CITIZEN The title of Salutatorian goes to Frank Crawford for his 3.94 scholastic average. One of Frank's many talents lies in the field of Music. Besides play- ing the bass in the school band and the pep band, he now plays for the University of Michigan Youth Band, the University of Michigan Youth Symphony, and the South Oakland Symphony. Last summer Frank toured Germany with the Michigan Chorale. Frank attends St. George Episcopal Church in Milford. He is the president of the Youth Group and Head Acolyte. Frank participates in many of the extracurricular activities. He is a member of the National Honor Society, the Jets, and the Chess Club. He has been a member of the Debate and Dis- cussion teams for three years. Frank is going to the University of Michigan for four years to study chemical engineering as a prerequisite for law which will ex- tend for another three years. Honored by the nomination of her Classmates and the election of the facul- ty was Carol Sommer, this year's D.A.R. Good Citizen, Scholastic ability, service to school and community, dependability, patriotism, and character were the basis of this selection. Carol is accomplished in the field of music. She plays the per- cussion instruments in the band, has taken piano lessons for eight years, and sings in the Westminster Choir at Orchard Lake Community Church. Last Summer she was chosen to represent the United States as an exchange student to Austria. Carol's long brown pony tail is a familiar sight to Walled Lake students, as she has helped cheer Walled Lake's teams to victory for four years. As a member of the Student Council, she was put in charge of pep assemblies for this year. Her activities do not end there. She has served as homeroom officer and Viking Literary Editor as well as being a member of Latin Club, National Honor Society, and G.A.A. Next year Carol will enter the University of Michigan, and plans to major in English. 15
