Students returned with feelings of expectancy which lasted as various occasions arose throughout the year. New faces accompanied by new personalities mixed easily with the familiar faces of faculty and student body to produce a feeling of school unity. . 4 Tobias Brown F4 , 1 Jennifer Mills, Kim Mills K av l Reginald Powell Nathaniel Dobson is -Mahan L Fix Y' A , M ' nf 1-in-Q-i--H2 -Y W-.- Y-W.-.Qi-a Carl Hall, Kevin Huffin Mary Ann Diaz Sheila Barber New members of the faculty added much to the school year. As sophomores, they soon became involved in a variety of extracurricular activities, including club and sports activities. Many students took academic courses necessary for college preparation. Also in forethought of college, some so- phomores took the National Education Development Test. Students interested in vocational subjects took such courses as brick-laying, carpentry, and drafting. Change was definitely apparent in the sophomore class. New classes, new teachers, new activities, and a more responsible outlook on life resulted in a successful year for the sophomore class. Encountering more change at W-RH than any other class, freshmen enjoyed the new privileges of high school. Adjusting to a different kind of schedule, a different faculty, and new responsibilities, these underclassmen matured through everyday experiences. Although the freshmen's schedules were centered mostly around mandatory courses, each freshman had one elective. Like the sophomores, many of these newcomers chose to take the National Education Development Test as a preparatory measure for this kind of testing. Since club activities were somewhat limited for freshmen, participation and interest in sports occupied much of their time. Exhibiting much physical zeal, the freshmen participated in varsity as well as junior varsity sports. Although change was a necessary part of the '79-80 school year for freshmen, these students adapted easily to the changes and became an important part of the school. 75 New students bring change if .1 it .. l X54 X Patricia Alexander Karen Andrews Qi,y L V ,f - 6 y ., Gwendolyn Barden ' ' ' 4- X- Stephanie Barnes A. Will I see failure or success, Happiness or strife? Although the future is unsure, I hold memories in my hand. They are as unique and as many As a thousand grains of sand. I reach into the depths of my memory To recall those unforgettable days, When life seemed to drift by In a pleasant, carefree haze. So many of my hopes were fulfilledg Many of my dreams became reality. Then why . . . at this important time in my Are my thoughts filled only with perplexity? Friendship reminds me of promises And shared secrets and exchanged smiles. I remember tear-filled moments of sadness, And laughter at the change of styles. These reminiscences are indeed treasures, Which will always remain in my mindg For no matter what changes my future holds, I'll never leave my childhood behind. -Kim Mills- Theohonest Bannerman Brian Barbee ,fr Wanda Dail, Donna Williams u I ii EDITOR-INVCHIEF .....,..
