W' ld. enior Class History As seventh graders our organization was as follows: president, Patti-Coburng vice-president, Linda Smithg secretary and treasuer, Judy Bartlett. The cheerleaders were Patti Coburn, Judy Bartlett and Gene Rogers. Our class colors were blue and white. Mr. Southern was our sponsor. We started the year of 195k-55 as eighth graders with Mr. Prit- chard as our class sponsor. we had an enrollment of thirty eight. Our officers were as follows: president, David Bates, vice-president, Linda Smithg secretary and treasuer, Diane Hill. Our cheerleaders were Rick Shuman, Judy Bhrtlett and Patti Coburn. Our class colors were blue and gold. Our motto was 'Boys Lead and Girls Follow'. The class tree was the Weeping Willow, the flower the Rhododendron and our class bird was the eagle. He began our freshmen year with an enrollment of thirty five. Our officers were: president, Linda Smith, vice-president, Joyce Carson, secretary and treasuer, Shirley Swiger. Our cheerleaders were Joyce Carson, Judy B rtlett, and Mary Jo Smith. Our flower was the Rhodo- dendrong our bird the B ld Eagleg and our motto, 'We Pull Most When Ie Pull Together.' Mr. lblverton was our sponsor. le entered our sophomore year with thirty students and elected the following officers: president, Bill Griffin: vice-president, Linda Smithg secretary, Heal Upton, treasuer, Ed Loar. Cheerleaders were Patti Coburn and Judy B rtlett. Our class colors were pink and gray. Our bird the Snipeg our tree the Dogwood, and our flower the Posy. M s. Sadie Robinson was our sponsor. In the fall of 1957 we began our Junior year with twenty students. We elected as officers: president, Rick Shuman, vice-president, Patti Coburn, secretary, Judy Bhrtlettg treasuer, Arlene B y. Our cheer- leaders were Joyce Carson and Judy B rtlett. Our motto, 'Progress is the Activity of Today and the Assurance of Tomorrow'. The class color! were pink and blue, our flower the rose, our bird, the owlg and our nickname was 'the skunks,' and Miss Orcutt was our sponsor. We had many in our class who held offices and six went to county chorus. Our class play, 'House for Sale-Haunted, which was a big success as was our Junior-Senior prom and banquet which was held on Saturday, May 10, 1958. Altogether it was a very successful and progressive Year. We entered our final year in W.H.S. in September 1958. Finally seated at the library tables we elected Rick Shuman, presidentg Patti Coburn, vice-president, Judy Bartlett, secretary, and Arlene Bay, treas- uer. Our class colors were pastel, our bird the crow, our flower, the carnation, and our nickname, the 'Peanut Bnsters,' as our motto we chose 'Find a Way or Make 0ne,' and as our cheerleaders we chose Judy Bartlett and Patti Coburn. we had an enrollment of seventeen. Our sponsor is Mr. Pigott. We had a very busy year with everyone being in many activities. He presented our class play in April and on May 27, 1959, we Grad- uated o Senior Class Will Be it known to all persons, that we, the Senior Class of l959 of Wallace High School, town of Wallace, district of Sardis, County of Harrison, state of West Virginia, a small percentage of us being sound of mind, and all of us being free of all body infirmities and in a care free mood do hereby, make, publish, and declare the follow- ing to be our last will and testament: To the entire school we Seniors will our ability to always be happy, whatever we do, or wherever we are To our principle lr. Patti Coburn married Page and is now living in Dayton Ohio. She Iives right across fromXMaxine Swi er, who is now employed as a typist for the Bartlett ot ng . Then she went on to say that Alice Gifford and Mar! Smith still lived in Iallace. Both gIrIs are employe m Clarksburg, Kas Modelsl. Rick Shuman came home last month for a leave from the Marine Corp. Rial U ton is now head janitor at the high school and his w e erta is the cook. Diane Hill married Ray and both are working and saving their money so they can go to College. Uho's going to watch the kids? Bill Griffin has plans for marriage but is still look- ing for a stea y job. Yes, Neal Ashcraft is still around. He lives in Smith- field and works at a filling station. Gary Dennison and Kegel Ash, went into business together They Bwn and operate the 'nnston News Hill L nch drives the bus for the high school. His dad retire an lly's working full time. And here I am, Arlene Ba a graduate nurse at one of the largest hospitals 1n rg nia. O yes, B rnard Griffin has been fairly busy since he became self-employed. In his spare time he visits Lumber- port to see his girl. Gene Ro ers owns his Dad's store and garage. He has plenty o money in the bank and is looking for a rich widow to marry. Bob Keener is still being chased around by all the girls in the plant where he is employed Jud Bartlett went home from the hospital after having a check-up. e and John are now living in Norfolk Virginia. Our class colors were orange and blackg our cheerleaders were Judy Criss, Jo Ann McIntyre, Helen Goldsmith, and Charlotte Dennison. We had two class parties. Our sponser was Mr. hmSwmum We entered our second year at Wallace High School in the fall of 1955 with Roy Hyde, president, Helen Goldsmith, vice-president, and Larry Bennett, secretary and treasurer. Our class colors were pink and black. Our cheerleaders were Jo Ann McIntyre, Helen Goldsmith, and Charlotte Dennison. Our class sponsor was Mr. W. W. Pritchard. We entered our Freshmen year at Wallace High School in the fall of 1956 with Charlotte Dennison, president, Charlotte Lockhart, vice- president, Helen Goldsmith, secretary and treasurer. Our class name was the 'Jackasses'. Our flower was the pussy willow, and our class colors were black and white. The student council members elected were Louise Hardway and Harold Swiger. Our motto was 'This year we do good and next year we do better.' Our sponsor was Miss Shirley Dingo. We entered our Sophomore year at Wallace High School in the fall of 1957 with Larry Bennett, president, Roy Hyde, vice-president, Ralph Swiger, secretary, and Kenny Talkington as treasurer. Our class colors were red and whiteg the class bird was the Red Bird, and our class flower was the red rose. Our motto was 'We pull the most when we pull together. Our cheerleader was Jo Ann McIntyre. Our sponsor was Mrs. B.I. Robinson. We entered our Junior year at Wallace High School in the fall of 1958 with Roy Hyde, president, John Marshok, vice-president, Louise Hardway, secretaryg and wayne Pigott, treasurer. We selected orange and black as our class colors and the carnation as our class flower. We selected 'Junior All Stars' as our class name, and for our motto we selected 'Nothing succeeds like success.' Our cheerleaders were Jo Ann McIntyre and Judy McCullough. We held our first class party of the year on October 29, 1958. We started our class activities on September 15, 1958 by sponsoring a Curtis Magazine Selling Campaign. This cam- paign lasted until October 2, 1958. The class sponsored the sale of Wallace High School pens November 15--December 15, 1958. We also spon- sored the 'King of Hearts' contest February ln, 1959. We presented our class play on March 7, 1959. The Junior-Senior Banquet was held on Saturday May 9, 1959. Our Student Council Representative was Clarence Davis. Mrs. James Colvin assisted us with our banquet plans. The Commencement Prom was held on Saturday May 16, 1959. Our class bird was the robin. The cheer- leaders were Doris Barker, Sharon Underwood, Carol Lane and Angie Davis. Our motto was nDon't Be Cruel.' Our nickname was the WHound Dogsn. We started our third year really going strong and steady. We elected the following officers: president, Danny Shumang Vice- president, Geraldine Sweckerg secretary, Bart Rogers and treasuer, Doris Barker. Our class colors were blue and white. The class bird was the blue bird. The class flower was the white carnation. Our motto was UForward Ever, Backward Nevern. The cheerleaders were Bart Rogers, Bob Hyde, and Doris Barker. Our sponsor was Miss Dingo. We entered our Sophomore year with a total of Zh students. David Bennett was elected President, Joe Marshok elected Vice-President with Gary Carson as Treasure and Janet Hill as Secretary. Kay Ashcraft, Joe Marshok and David Bennett were our Student Council Representatives. 'Rough Riders' was our class name, with 'Rough and Ready' as our class motto. We chose red and white as our class colors and our cheerleaders were Janet Hill, Mary Baker, and Kay Ashcraft. We started our second year at Wallace High School with an en- rollment of 38 students, 10 girls and 28 boys. Mrs. Marlene Williams was our sponsor. Joe Marshok was elected President, Raymond Criss Vice-President, Woodrow Miller, Treasure and Blanch Riley, Secretary. Joe Marshok was our Student Council Representative. 'Hot Rods' was our class name. Our motto was 'We're not at the top, but we're as- cending.' Our class Bird was the Hawk. Our colors were pink and black. The cheerleaders were Blanch Riley and Janet Hill. We started our third year really going strong. We elected Kit Hess as President, Ray Pigott as Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer Raymond Wolf.
