SEPTEMBER 7-First day of school and about 375 eager students enrolled. 10-Football season started with a heartbreaking de- feat for Wa-Hi on the Sandpoint Field, 19-18. 14-Election of class officers was held. 17-Miners give St. Maries a 25-6 drubbing. 22-Denny Welsh was elected to head the student body with Dave Thompson as Vice Presidentg Rita Ghirardello, Secretary, and Dalvin Winterowd as Treasurer. 23-Alice Giroux, Gerene Pyburn, and Evelyn Brat- ton were elected to be our new cheerleaders. 24-Wallace played Polson for 14-12 loss. 26-Elks Parade. In the float division juniors came in second and the Seniors and Sophomores tied for fourth. OCTOBER 1-Miners upset the CDA Vikings with a 32-7 vic- tory there. 5-The songbirds of the school, Triple Trio, were chosen. 6-Minerettes added new members to their Pep Club. 8-Colfax left Wallace with a 20-7 defeat for the Bulldogs. 11-Our first National Assembly. 15-Miners defeat Bonners Ferry 27-7 on Sather Field. 22-Another win for the Miners to the tune of 24-7 over Colville. 25-Minerettes sponsor a mixer. 27-Max Cvetic spoke to the student body. 29-Wallace loses to Pullman 34-19. 30-Plenty of fun for everyone at PTA Halloween party and dance. junior won award for the best skit. NOVEMBER 2-Wallace and Kellogg entertain each others stu- dents and the student body officers signed the tra- ditional peace pact at the exchange assemblies. afguentae 4-First nine weeks tests. 5-Entertainment for all was provided by the stu- dents with the Thespian Tournament. 10-All the student body went out for the big ser- pentine, bon fire, and pep rally. 11-The Wallace Miners defeated the Kellogg Wildcats with a victory of 13-6 in their big annual gridiron battle. 12-Twirp season started for Wa-Hi. 20-Student Council sponsored a dance. 24-West Valley High School entertained us with their Chorus. 25-Thanksgiving vacation at last. 29-Minerettes held their annual initiation. What a mess. DECEMBER 4-First basketball game of the year and Wallace shows that old spirit by defeating Grangeville 47-41. 9--Our parents went to school for open house dur- ing American Education Week. 10-First loss of the season for the Miners in a 32- 31 thriller on the Colville floor. 11-Miners bow to Grangeville 30-26. 13-junior class presented their novelty class play, Curtain Going Up. 15-Seniors started decorating for their ball. 16-Annual football banquet with Coach Staley from the U. of I. as speaker. 17-Miners lose to Wildcats on home floor, 74-38. 18-Miners barely get past the Mullan Tigers with a 57-56 win. 20-The Band and Chorus presented a beautiful Christmas concert. 21-What happened? Kellogg tops Wallace with a 45-42 victory. 22-Cleo and Pudge reign over the beautiful Senior Ball. Theme? Ebb Tide. 23-Hurrah! Christmas vacation begins.
