As Sophomores they began the year right by electing jerry Streeter, Garry Chambers, an the reigns. Becoming upper classmen, their junior year they started to pile up honors when they won first prize for their outstand- ing float Circus Time. Class officers were Gary Clizer, Denny Welsh, and Margy Marra. Cleo Bardelli and Roger Sparks repre- sented this ambitious class in the student body. They proudly claimed Marilyn Zoret, Paulie Rayburn, and Cora Carlson in Triple Trio. june Mad was chosen for their junior Play and was a smash hit with its outstanding cast. Gerene Pyburn was chosen to be one of our cheerleaders. The junior Prom, April In Paris, was their big event of the year with jo Pledge: and Denny Welsh as King and Queen. Sharon McGatlin, Rita Ghirardello, Glen Almquist, and Roger Sparks were chosen to attend Girls' and Boys' State respectively. Rita Ghirardello and Sharon McGatlin were also chosen to head the Annual and Booster their Senior year. Being represented in every school activity and sport they were well prepared and ready to take over their Senior year. Elections found four capable officers who were jerry joe Caron, Don Hull, jerry Streeter, and Cleo Bardelli. Student officers were Denny Welsh, Rita Ghirardello, and Dalvin Vfinterowd. Our contribution to the Thespian Tournament which was She's a Neat job, took the Oscar for the best play. Another Thespian Play which won many honors was Cracked Ice. Evelyn Bratton and Alice Giroux were added to the cheerleading staff. December brought our beautiful Ebb Tide which was the underwater theme for their ' lleman reigned over all. RITA GHIRARDELLO Editor SEPTEMBER 7-First day of school and about 375 eager students enrolled. 10-Football season started with a heartbreaking de- feat for Wa-Hi on the Sandpoint Field, 19-18. 14-Election of class officers was held. 17-Miners give St. Maries a 25-6 drubbing. 22-Denny Welsh was elected to head the student body with Dave Thompson as Vice Presidentg Rita Ghirardello, Secretary, and Dalvin Winterowd as Treasurer. 23-Alice Giroux, Gerene Pyburn, and Evelyn Brat- ton were elected to be our new cheerleaders. 24-Wallace played Polson for 14-12 loss. 26-Elks Parade. In the float division juniors came in second and the Seniors and Sophomores tied for fourth. OCTOBER 1-Miners upset the CDA Vikings with a 32-7 vic- tory there. 5-The songbirds of the school, Triple Trio, were chosen. 6-Minerettes added new members to their Pep Club. 8-Colfax left Wallace with a 20-7 defeat for the Bulldogs. 11-Our first National Assembly. 15-Miners defeat Bonners Ferry 27-7 on Sather Field. 22-Another win for the Miners to the tune of 24-7 over Colville. 25-Minerettes sponsor a mixer. 27-Max Cvetic spoke to the student body. 29-Wallace loses to Pullman 34-19. 30-Plenty of fun for everyone at PTA Halloween party and dance. junior won award for the best skit. NOVEMBER 2-Wallace and Kellogg entertain each others stu- dents and the student body officers signed the tra- ditional peace pact at the exchange assemblies. afguentae 4-First nine weeks tests. 5-Entertainment for all was provided by the stu- dents with the Thespian Tournament. 10-All the student body went out for the big ser- pentine, bon fire, and pep rally. 11-The Wallace Miners defeated the Kellogg Wildcats with a victory of 13-6 in their big annual gridiron battle. 12-Twirp season started for Wa-Hi. 20-Student Council sponsored a dance. 24-West Valley High School entertained us with their Chorus. 25-Thanksgiving vacation at last. 29-Minerettes held their annual initiation. What a mess. DECEMBER 4-First basketball game of the year and Wallace shows that old spirit by defeating Grangeville 47-41. 9--Our parents went to school for open house dur- ing American Education Week. 10-First loss of the season for the Miners in a 32- 31 thriller on the Colville floor. 11-Miners bow to Grangeville 30-26. 13-junior class presented their novelty class play, Curtain Going Up. 15-Seniors started decorating for their ball. 16-Annual football banquet with Coach Staley from the U. of I. as speaker. 17-Miners lose to Wildcats on home floor, 74-38. 18-Miners barely get past the Mullan Tigers with a 57-56 win. 20-The Band and Chorus presented a beautiful Christmas concert. 21-What happened? Kellogg tops Wallace with a 45-42 victory. 22-Cleo and Pudge reign over the beautiful Senior Ball. Theme? Ebb Tide. 23-Hurrah! Christmas vacation begins. JANUARY 5-Back to school after a much needed vacation. 7--Miners tangle with Moscow in a 56-30 victory on home floor. 8-What luck! Clarkston tops Miners with a 52-51 victory. 13-Second Semester starts. 14-Miners tromp Bonner Badgers on home floor, 95-51. 15-Wallace vs. CDA-a 41-37 victory for the Vik- ings. 21--Wallace goes to Kellogg. Wildcats outscore Miners, 52-41. 22-Miners lose to Bulldogs, 60-56. 25-National Assembly. 27-We danced to help someone walk. Proceeds went to the March of Dimes. 28--Wallace skinned the Lumberjacks at St. Maries, 59-53. 31-Lecturer on Foreign Relations speaks to student body. FEBRUARY 3-Many talented students in Wallace High School participated in the annual talent show. 4-Miners tromp Bonners Ferry, 69-48. 5-CDA comes to Wallace to get beat 45-44. What a game! 8-Wallace played Kellogg. Who won??? We did in a 40-32 thriller on our home floor. 9-Mr. Iszler gave the students a surprise matinee dance celebrating our victory. 12-Wallace loses to Sandpoint 67-50 on the Bull- dog floor. 19-Miners take Tigers to a 50-45 at home. 22-Chorus, Band, and Wa-Hi students combine to make TV show a big success. 2,5--Last game of the season with a 81-65 win over St. Maries. 26-Debate Team held an informal debate at Kel- logg. 28-National Assembly. High School-Faculty game. Someone bribed the refs. Party for the TV show cast. -- 1954-1955 -- MARCH 3-Panhandle Tournament starts in CDA with Wal- lace placing third. 8-The A. A. U. W. held a Senior Tea for the graduating girls. 11-Regional Tournament starts. 15-NIJC Choir of CDA put on an entertaining program. 16-Debate Tournament at St. Maries with Wallace taking honors. 18-State Basketball Tournament at CDA. 23-Idaho College at Caldwell presented a musical program. 24--Moscow Press Conference with Wa-Hi send- ing five delegates. 25-Key Club Convention at Salem, Oregon. 26-Declamation Festival held in Sandpoint with Wallace well represented. 31-Large banquet honoring Coach Hilliard, spon- sored by the Club. APRIL 7-Seniors presented Man on the Stairs, di- rected by Miss Vigil. 8-Spring vacation starts. 10-Easter Concert given by the Chorus and Band. 12-Minerettes give banquet for Club. 15-Big day for the juniors as they presented their beautiful Prom. 22-Home Ec. girls had fun on Spokane trip. 26--The Band gave entertainment galore with their Spring Concert. 28-What everyone had been waiting for. Lewiston Music Festival with lots of fun for everyone.
