a i y FLORENCE TROTTER, URSE OE THE YEAR, 1974 NURSE FLQRENCE TRQTTER, 1 MEMQRIAM There are some people who bring a certain joy to living. One such person was Florence Trotter, one of the instructors in the nursing department. Nurse Trotter represented the highest ideals of the medical professionp she was never satisfied with only half-best-everything had to be done to the very utmost of one's skills and capabilities. The result was students who always tried to succeed in the greatest possible way. The contributions of any one person to society is not always easily evaluated, but the contribution of Nurse Trotter is well known to her students, to her fellow teachers, and to the administration of the George C. Wallace State Community College. During the time of her serious illness, she faced squarely the possibility of dying, and she attended seminars learning how to help those who also faced the same problem. With her students, she shared some of the attitudes of someone with a terminal illness, she wanted them to know how to help those who needed special support in a time of great personal crisis. With those who worked with her, she never complained or referred to her illness. At all times she was warm, gentle, sympathetic, and professional. Our world is a little bit darker, now, but our love lingers firmly and strongly within our hearts for a very special person, whose light truly will last through all eternity. Thank you, Florence Trotter, for leaving such a wonderful legacy behind, your message of love will not be forgotten. 271
