22 There are many nice words we could use to try to tell you what Dr. Dickinson means to us and those with whom he comes in contact, but somehow words can't acquaint you with Dr. D. If you haven't taken a speech class from him and heard his words of wisdom; if you haven't been to his Sabbath School class where he portrays his dedication to a Christian life and where he does what he tells his speech classes not to do; if you haven't heard his authoritative rule and corny jokes at KGTS staff meetings, then you wouldn't know Dr. D. Early in the 1930's the college decided it was time for a new girls' dorm, however, so the white house had to go. Sometime in the fall of 1933 the building was torn down and the basement converted to a fish pond in 1935. ilnterestingly, the huge redbud tree presently in front of Conard Hall once stood next to the pond. When leveling the ground for building, the men dug
