WENDELL DOWNS ' Even such is time, that tal es in trust Our youth, our joys, our all we have OUR FRCULTY The President ' s message GEORGE W. BOWERS President It IS a far cry from our peaceful campus to the battle fields of earth β€” to Guadalcanal, to New Guinea, to Tunisia and to those other places which seem so far away β€” where Walla Walla ' s own sons ore serving our country. And yet, is it? Thought effaces time and space. For them, campus scenes blend themselves in reverie with present experiences. For us, their bravery, devotion and suffer- ing become ours. Battles are not fought out there alone. They are also fought within and result in character and ideals. Ideals ore impelling. When directed by God they conquer fear, the heat of summer, the cold of winter, the drought of the desert and the rage of man and beast. They hold us steady to the task of serving God and human- ity. They have made us soldiers for Christ here on the campus, and there β€” beyond. Onward Christian Soldiers! Frank W.
