PRESlDENT'S MESSAGE The task of Christian education today is the same as it has been--to eauip young men and women to meet the problems of life. The task is of greater complexity now than formerly because life is more complex and intense. Christian education can perform this task more completely than secular education, The latter of necessity must refrain from exploration in the realm of the spiritual. Man is not a being consisting of individual units of body or mind. l-le is a highly integrated individual. The spiritual aspects of life are so closely enmeshed with the physical and mental that the education which leaves out the spiritual is at a disadvantage, and even in the realm of the intellectual purely secular education is also ata disadvantage, Investigations have been conducted which carry man into the extreme fringes of the borderland between the known and the unknown. Here facts give place to theories and speculations, but the sincere purpose to arrive at the truth leads one to the Creator as the source of all truth. Here finite touches the infinite in communion. Christian education, by creating opportunity for more complete under- standings of all phases of man's nature, provides the equipment for meeting life in all of its aspects, Walla Walla College is the school that educates for lifel -George W. Bowers.
