Languages WALLA WALLA COLLEGE has realized the importance of the study of foreign languages, and has made excellent provision for them in the curriculum. In the two languages, German and French, complete courses are offered in grammar and composition Also German Romanticism, Scientific German, Modern German, and its Literature, Scientific French, French Literature of the Nineteenth Century, are offered Professor Reinmuth and Miss Holmden are the instructors in these studies A considerable amount of interest exists among the students in this department and it IS developing rapidly The study of ancient languages, which include Greek Latin and Hebrew, is also pursued The theological students find these courses Very beneficial, for they enable them to make a first hand study of the Bible in the original Hebrew and Greek P3 X 4-1- 'N

Thorpe. The intricacies of psychology, the study of tests and measurements, and the history of education are among the courses offered in this Held. Psychology is studied as it pertains to the child, the adolescent, and to advanced educational problems. With so many students preparing for educational work this department holds a very important place in the curriculum of the College. Normal Training THE Normal Training Department with Mrs. Saxton as acting director offers both a two-year and a three-year diploma for teaching in our elementary church schools. 1221-

Home Economics TI-IE courses which the Home Economics Department offers are not only designed to develop young Women as home makers but also to develop young Women for responsible positions such as matrons and teachers. In these posts they have an oppor- tunity to have a part in the Lord's Work. This year the college has offered especially practical and useful courses, and many students are availing themselves of the helpful instruction received under Mrs. Christian. who is the head of the department, and Mrs. VanAusdle, who is associated with her. A new dining room, tastefully furnished, was added to the Home Economics Department this year. Here the class, Meal Planning and Serving, serves a variety Of breakfasts, dinners, and luncheons to gain skill as servers and hostesses. 41241-
