Janet Ragan, historian and technical assistant. r he dance ream had an all-new look with smart new wet-look blue jumpers and puff-sleeved white blouses fur costumes-and a new name Blue Devilettes. ' The dance team performed at football games and as a marching unit in the Pea Festival Parade and at the Walla Walla Community College as well as school as¬ semblies. This year an unique performance featured strobe-lighting and a line routine to the tune “Stoned Cowboy”. A plaque honoring former dance ream member Sandra Durham, killed in an automobile accident will be pre¬ sented annually to an outstanding dance team member. Rally Rally was very busy this year working with the cheerleaders to heighten school spirit bv making game posters and selling game ribbons. They started the Guardian Angel system, where they did something special for varsity swimmers, wrestlers and basketball players each week. Also Rally held a winter sports week, put on skits and rode rooter buses. Mark Cantrell. Tom Harding, Boh Keynon, Steve I ay lor. Wa-Hi started its season with four strong returning runners-Juan Hernandez Mike Prior Lynn Bowerman, and Randy Barton. All four were lettermcn in their junior year. Gene Tabor, a junior, and Traev Weston, a sophonv more, quickly earned a position on the varsity squad, 1 wo more sophomores, Bob McBride and Dan Hellberg saw- a lot of varsity meets as well. Overall, the team had its best year for a win-loss record. The harriers won 5 and lost only one dual track meet with the state champion Richland. The season ended on a bad note when a strong runner, Kandy Barton, broke his foot in the last three weeks of the season making him unable to run in State. Juan Hernandez was awarded the most inspirational player trophy, and Gene Tabor the most improved trophy. Wa-Hi J V’s also had a strong season finishing with only a single loss.
