Ambitious students arrived the first day full of expectations, dreams, fright, and questions. Little did they know, nor suspect, theirs is the quest for the unsatisfied mind. A brief respite amid a hurried day. Lunch hour of 35 minutes, gave time for contemplation of studies, conferring with 4th period Socio-Econ. friends abouea test, or merely meandering.

Hootennanys and frolics after noisy basket¬ ball games or wrestling matches; a sick feeling in Biology I at the sound of a crushing cov er slip; an ominous call down to Mr Neher’s office; getting an ‘7V 1 on a SEPS test. Nothing is so important to Wa-Hi as the imagination and enthusiasm of the students. Each year is unique. For some, the beginning; for others, the end. Apathy in student government gave way to elation on the football field. Franklin Dodd was several times drowned in effigy; the JOURNAL caused controversy and creativity. We, the seniors of this year, have never known the old buildings. Traditions are ours, nay, Wa-Hi 1 s to continue. This is our bequest. Now— Take my hand and walk with me. And we shall see what the morrow may bring. 4

Throughout High School Students Seek The ambition to learn — the desire to improve — drives many students to seek answers to questions un¬ answered in class. Wa-Hi’s library maintains a wide stock of reference materials, magazines, fiction, classics, and biographies for the use of the student. In addition, the library provides several independent study cubicles, type¬ writers, and a tape recorder to aid the process of education.
