MEL HERMES Vice Principal Dean of Boys MR HANSON Principal MR LEDBETTER Vice Principal Congratulations to the graduate! In our rapidly changing society, it is difficult to over¬ estimate the importance of education. Adapta¬ tion to the changing world is dependent upon education; re-education and continuing edu¬ cation. It is not unrealistic to predict for your generation outposts on the moon, 2 (10-mi le¬ an-hour commuter trains and 200-passenger ocean jets, hemispheric common markets and a cybernated economy. Your faculty and administrators have given you an opportunity to learn how to compete in a rapidly changing world; how¬ ever, it will require a lifelong education and retraining lo meet the demands of the future. We hope that we have developed in each individual the knowledge, interests, ideals, habits and powers whereby you will find your place in a changing society and ust i that place io shape both yourself and society to noble ends. Man ' s destiny appears to depend upon his acquisition and use of knowledge. DEL G. PETERSON Superintendent of Schools This year ' s senior class will be the last Walla Walla High School students to have had the experience of starting their high school careers in the old building and finish¬ ing in our new modern plant. The “Royal Blue has given you an accurate, pictorial record of this transition from the old to the new. We are celebrating our seventy-fifth anniversary this year, and the “Royal Blue through the years has given us insight into the many fine traditions w r e have established during these seventy-five years. Some new innovations were established this year, and it will be interesting to see if they will stand the test of time and become traditions. The “Royal Blue is one of our finest traditions, and this year ' s staff is to be commended once again for giving us a vivid picture of our progress and achievement for the year. Best wishes, seniors, for your continued success and may your transition from high school to other endeavors be as successful as your transition from the old to the new. FRANKLIN R. HANSON Principal MR TONES Assistant Superintendent DR. PETERSON Superintendent MR REYNOLDS Assistant Superintendent
