A famous states man, in a speech some years ago, made the following statement: ‘ Destiny is not a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved. Fortunately for the youth of Walla Walla, a group of people decided that they had waited long enough for a new, modern, functional high school and set for themselves the task of making a new high school building a reality. The choice that your parents, your friends and neighbors made has given to you and to future graduating classes a school plant facility that enables you to compete on equal terms with graduates from other communities which o high priority on meeting the educational needs of youth in these challenging times. It Is my hope that through your serious¬ ness of purpose and by your overt ac¬ tions, the faculty ond future student bodies will take full advantage of the educational opportunity hot destiny has provided Arthur D, Jones Mr Jones ond Mr. Reynolds Administration Mr. Ledbetter and Mr, Hanson As a newcomer to Wa-Hl, I am blessed to in herit a school full of fine traditions, good school spirit, and loyalty to one s school evidenced by genuine pride. The cooperation I have received from students, faculty and parents has been most rewarding. The Royal Blue is to be commended m once again for doing an excellent job in felling the story of the school year 1963-64. Congratulations, seniors, and best wishes for a successful future. To sophomores, juniors and faculty—whatever we may do as a school in the future, may we do it well together. Franklin B. Hanson n
