' Neath the range of mighty mountains, Reared against the sky, Proudly stands our Alma Mater As the years go by Forward ever be our watchword— Conquer and prevail. Hail to thee our Alma Mater, Walla Walla, Hail. Presented by the Associated Students of Walla Walla High School Walla Walla, Washington Nineteen-Hundred Sixty-Three THE ROYAL BLUE MISS LITTLE, a native Oregonian, graduated from Pendleton High School. After graduation she continued her education at Whitman, where she minored in music and English, and majored in biology for her Bachelor of Science degree. Then she did graduate work ir English at the University of Oregon, the University of Washington, and Stanford University, Miss Little began teaching at Washougal, Washington in a two-story brick school of about 1 25 students. About our high school, Miss Little had this to say. ‘‘During my twenty-five years at Wa-Hi, the student body has survived ration cards, floods, and falling plaster, and I am convinced that they will always maintain enough good sense and good will to with¬ stand any strain. Individually, students have always been interesting, often inspiring, and my greatest pleasure has been the opportunity to share not only their eagerness to do well and to do right, but their occasional failure to do either. We have learned together. I am always sorry to lose this year ' s crop, and always surprised to get another just as delightfully individual and unpredictable as the last. To the Class of ' 63, one of the best, go my best wishes for continued achievements and personal happiness 1 Table of Contents Dedication ...... 4 Seniors . 8 Juniors . 38 Sophomores . 49 Government ..... 64 Administration .. 69 Faculty .. 70 Pep Squad ..78 Football . 80 Homecoming . 84 Wrestling .. 86 Basketball . 89 Pep Club .. 93 Girls’ P. BASKETBALL WA-HI ' s basketball season ended March 9th with the Lewis and Dark Tigers stopping the Blue Devil ' s in their bid for a state tournament berth. Cold figures do not show the closeness of most of the games during the season. Out of twenty-one games played the Blue Devils won ten. Roesch, Brumback, Chandler, and O ' Neill were the top scoring linemen of this year ' s basketball team. They also had excellent supporting help from the other team 92 members. Good Leadership and Enthusiasm Yield Greater School Spirit. School spirit and enthusiasm can easily be traced to the efforts of our Pep Club. Busses taken to various out-of-town games were loaded with girls wearing their attractive uniforms. Some of the organization ' s projects this year were a rummage sale, candy sale, and frolic, the proceeds going to help pay for sweat’ ers. A party held in the school gym for the members was also highly successful. Miss Kinder, Pep Club ad¬ visor, has been of great help to the club, along with Miss Moe, her assistant.
