Alma Mater ’NEATH THE RANGE OF MIGHTY MOUNTAINS, REARED AGAINST THE SKY, PROUDLY STANDS OUR ALMA MATER AS THE YEARS GO BY. FORWARD EVER BE OUR WATCHWORD—CONQUER AND PREVAIL. HAIL TO THEE OUR ALMA MATER. WALLA WALLA, HAIL! Dedication The Royal Blue staff is proud to dedicate this annual to Mr. Emigh, who for the past twenty-six years has been teaching mathematics, physics and science at Walla Walla High School. A hard worker is the description given to Mr. Emigh, who was brought up near here and educated at Whitman. During this time he has seen Wa-Hi grow and prosper into what it is now. Through this the students have come to know him as a kind, friendly, and helpful man. With a ll these qualities and years of experience be¬ hind him, we can say we are proud to have him as a mem¬ ber of our faculty and school. You have been cooperative and friendly; energetic and studious; and mature in most of your judgments. Your successes have been many, your failures few. I trust that you have enjoyed the year and felt chat it was worthwhile. The staff members of the Royal Blue have worked hard to provide you with a record so that you might relive and recall the 1959-60 school year. Their reward is the pleasure that this annual gives in help¬ ing you to remember the associations with students and faculty. Congratulations, Seniors; I wish you suc¬ cess in your future endeavors. W. G, LEDBETTER Vice-Principal The task of recapturing events of a busy school year and bringing them to life in book form is a difficult one. The Royal Blue staff is to be congratulated for an¬ other fine job. Their efforts are truly appreciated by students and faculty alike. The senior class has finished an excit¬ ing year. Each senior now looks to the future and the challenge that lies ahead. May the road be not coo rough and joys exceed the sorrows. The fondest wishes of faculty and administration go with each and every one. So long, Seniors. Good luck and happy hunting. K. A. TIDRICK Principal Recently 1 did some research having to do with the growth and development of the Walla Walla High School. It became apparent very quickly that the best source for tracing the achievements and progress of Wa-Hi since 19 6 was to be found in our file of Royal Blues. Here is chroa- icled academic and extra-curricular achieve¬ ment of which the students, faculty and community can well be proud. I am sure that the achievements record¬ ed in this 1960 Royal Blue will be of the same high quality. It is my sincere hope that Wa-Hi will continue its enviable record as one of the top 1f AA” schools in the state. In future years as you sing the words of your Alma Mater song. Forward ever be our watchword,” continue to make this sentiment a reality as well as a song. ARTHUR D. JONES Superintendent I960 Royal Blue is a record of the initiative and achievements of Wa-Hi stu¬ dents. Its pages are filled with names, faces, and mementos that will become more meaningful as the years go by. The year¬ book staff is to be congratulated for the energy and imagination that they have shown in creating this lasting record of the activities and accomplishments of the student body. This is an example of the type of enterprise that has given Wa-Hi the rich heritage that it has today. Congratulations, Seniors, on your school spirit, citizenship and academic accom¬ plishments. Continue to earnestly follow the goals you have set for yourselves. Use your talents so they will be a credit to you and to your country. Best of luck and happiness. This may well be said of MISS META PFEIFFER who loves to reach and who, during the last thirty five years, has taught well a variety of subjects, A graduate of Wa-Hi and XTlitman College, she began her career in Idaho; then she came to Wa-Hi in 1937 where she has taught German, English, and speech and has coached dramatics as well. A most memorable year and valuable experience was the year 1952- 1953 when she served as an exchange teacher to Eschwege, Ger¬ many.
