The Wa-Ht Orchestra, under the direction of Clarence Cassell, has had an enjoyable year fol¬ lowing a year of taking a superior rating at the contest in Spokane. This year has been full of performances. The orchestra started early by performing for the Teachers ' Institute on October 2 . Other performances were for the Senior Play, December Concert, Christmas program with the choir, Nurses ' Graduation in February, other plays, business clubs. Spring Concert, and Baccalaureate, Some of the members performed with the All-Northwest Orchestra in Boise Idaho, April 3-6. Department The 1956-1957 season of the Wa-Hi Choir opened with a performance in October for the Teachers ' Institute In December the choir, directed by Georgia-Mae Gallivan, presented four Christmas programs for community serv¬ ice clubs, and then on the 1 8th gave their annual Christ¬ mas program in the high school auditorium Seventy-five members of the choir sang French and English traditional Christmas carols highlighted by Ben¬ jamin B ntten ' s A Ceremony of Carols ' The orchestra, directed by Clarence Cassell, and three small vocal groups (the Senior Girls ' Ensemble, the Mixed Quartette, and the Sophomore Triple Trio) assisted in the program The Girls ' Chorus, composed of forty-five junior and sophomore girls, sang two numbers at the Christmas pro¬ gram and were also heard at the Veterans ' Hospital dur¬ ing a Christmas-week chapel service.
