Im¬ mediate problems are taken through legislative assembly and are discussed in all homerooms by the representatives. This year legislative assembly, headed by the A.S.B. Vice President, Louis Clayson accomplished many things. The student court, under the capable leadership of the Chief Justice, Ned Lange, accomplished much this year in the way of furthering student government. More than ever before the students became aware of the student court and its working, consequently resulting in eliminating of many problems and misunderstandings. S ' TREASURE Nancy cVay This year the student body gov¬ ernment has succeeded in better acquainting the students with the fundamentals of the democratic gov¬ ernment. Everyone has been given a chance to show his approval or disapproval of the methods of gov¬ erning the associated student body through the organization of the Key Club ' The Legislative Assembly cut its membership to one represen¬ tative from each homeroom in order to accomplish more business. Student court has operated efficiently and has started the practice of penalizing offenders by giving them a punish¬ ment that will do something to help Improve the school. Girls Federation develops character , companionship , and confidence To bring all girl students closer together, to solve problems, and make Wa-Hi a more friendly comfortable place to be, are the purposes of Girls ' Federation, These ideas have been ably carried out under the leadership of the Girls ' Fed. officers. Fed. Activities range from assemblies to frolics to teas to plays to potluck dinners. The year began with the redecoration of the Girls ' Lounge, begun during the ' 51 summer and continued through the year. First on the agenda was the get-acquainted frolic to welcome all Frosh and transfers, co-sponsored by the Federations, September ' s assembly—our first meeting—was a candle light installation ceremony for the new cabinet and our new Girls ' Counselor, Mrs. Tom Esary who has counseled, encouraged,, and understood us throughout the year. In October, Girls ' Fed, began an annual Halloween Party. November: Armlda Alexander wrote the religious theme script for a very successful Thanksgiving Assembly. In February a wish bone pin ceremony was held and the new Junior class cabinet assistants were in¬ troduced. At the beginning of the second semester many girls were found rushing around in order to present the annual Fed. play; this year Elmer ' Delegates went to Tri-State Conference held in Milton April 4 and 5, where our scrapbook was en¬ tered, In a joint assembly Wa-H s representatives to Girls ' State spoke and campaign speeches for Girls ' Fed. presidency were given. In April the Fed, and the Home Economics depart¬ ment presented the annual spring style show, and gave a tea for mothers afterwards. Junior girls worked to make this year ' s Senior Tea a huge success. In May, the installation of new officers was held and the old officers sard goodbye to their high school and their—friends.
