Each girl was introduced to the customs and traditions of Wa-Hi by a senior girl. Halloween provided the setting for a very successful masquerade party. Prizes were given for the best costumes, a very dignified paper dress, and an impressive hill-billy costume. The monthly assemblies provided both entertainment and education. Outstanding talks were given by women prominent in the community. A one-act play entitled Proposing to Jane and an amateur hour was very entertaining. A Christmas assembly was given, the admission for which was clothing, food, or toys which were distributed to the needy. With the help of Mrs. Sauers and her art class, Margie Dacres and her assistants succeeded in converting an old room into a lounge room for the girls. Modern furniture and murals add to the effectiveness. The most important activity of the year was the Tri-State Conference which was held here in April. The theme of the Conference was The Fulfillment of a Dream. Approxi- mately 200 girls attended from a radius of 150 to 200 miles. The committee for the con- ference was headed by Lois Hamm, Barbara White, and Shirley Jo Mays. Cooperating with other club groups, this committee succeeded in conducting programs and meetings in such a fashion that it was generally enjoyed. The Federation has as its ideals and goal the betterment of school spirit and better relationship among the girls. The Girls, Cabinet, headed by Helen Sporleder the first semester, and Helen Marshall the second semester, has clone much to promote this. The cooperation of every girl in school has helped to make this year another success in Feder- ation history.
