OROYA I.. 'ff .. W .1 Eta?-'if 'U' W. A. LACEY DEAN LOBAUGH Superintendent of Schools High School Principal ith a Message For II It is always a pleasure to receive another copy of the Royal Blue. This boolc pre- serves, largely in pictures, the varied life of the year, and as the years pass it will mean more and more to those who took part in the activities of the school. The times demand a stalwart generation. You youth pictured here, if resolute, sym- pathetic, brave and just, can plot a straight course out of the circles of the present-can achieve an America great beyond our present hopes. Our country's greatest need is capable, honest, fair-minded people to control its events. It is my belief that the generation now in our schools gives more promise of meeting this need than any group I have known. I ex- pect it to do the triclc. W. A. LACEY It is natural for every student to feel that his high school is superior to most other schools in the land, and such a feeling of loyalty is one of the most precious ingredients in the thing we call school spirit. But sometimes we are too much inclined to rest on our laurels, though those laurels may have been earned long before many of us were in Wa-Hi. Our school has many wonderful traditions of accomplishment, but because it has been an outstanding school in the past is no guarantee that it will continue to be, unless each student and faculty member makes a continual effort. What we want is that Wa-Hi shall be a distinguished school-distinguished not merely for pep, but for the quality of its endeavors: the quality of its scholarship, its athletics, its R. O. T. C., its plays, its music, its activities in whatever form, its student citizenship. Whatever we do as a school, may we do it well. To this I pledge my support. DEAN LOBAUGH l. B LU F Page Eleven
