Winning This year’s team suffered only six defeats out of thirty-two games, and then more than made up for their losses by winning the State Championship. They played a good brand of ball all season, but it was not until the Hoquiam-Bremerton trip near the end of the season that they really began to show championship form. Then, after the sub-district and district tournaments, in which they won handily, the Blue Devils went to the state tourney in top shape and with a will to win which brought them out on top Ball-hawkers of the championship team were: Clayton Shaw, All-State forward, captain, and the most dependable shot; Jimmy Seitz, forward, a dead-eye at long, looping shots; Keith Griffiths, steady and dependable guard; Billy Weber, cool and shifty guard, with a good one-hand shot; Charles Weaver, All-State guard, also center, with long, lanky arms; Paul Yeend, smallest but shiftiest one on the team, good at intercepting passes; John Adams, southpaw forward, and exceedingly hard to guard; Don Keyes, center, whose bewildered look catches opponents completely off balance; and Wayne Berry, a cool¬ working and steady guard Two other members of the team who did not go to the tournament were Dale Gentry, tall, point-getting center, who graduated mid-year, and Don Brumbach, sophomore center Page Twenty-F ouir
