Degree An adequate education for all the children is an easy statement to write, but, knowing all of the implications is a great responsibility. The school life as depicted in this annual is only one small phase of the education of the child. So much of his education cannot be written on paper. To awaken the mind, to satisfy the curiosity, to endow with a maximum amount of knowledge, to change the viewpoint of an immature to a mature person, to develop a right relationship between human kind, these are only a few of the things that an edu- cational system is to provide for the individual, when he enters school and make progress through a school system. As we look with pride upon the graduates of the Wall Lake Community Schools, we realize that we have achieved, in part, some of the responsibilities that have been privileged to be ours. We are happy to have had the opportunity to accept these re- sponsibilities and we know that some of our efforts will be long lasting in the lives of the students. EWSPAPER STAFF The newspaper staff for the Comet '67 news was made up of twenty-two capable student writers. The news reporting is purely volunteer work and offers no rewards except the satisfaction of seeing that our school has a newspaper which the student body can enjoy. The student writers assume the responsibility of assigning reporters to all departments of the school, of writing the news items in a legible and grammatically acceptable manner. and of getting the news in on time to be printed each week. Our only social event was a dinner in the spring of the year. It is called a Swing Show or the title this year was HEY LOOK US OVER . In- cluded in this year's show were such groups as the Low Brau's QGer- man Bandj, Wall Lake Tin fTijuana Brassj. plus such talented groups as the girls' glee, boys' glee, and mixed chorus. If you had been in the audience on the night of April 12, 1967 you would have heard music at it's finest as sung and played by the students of Wall Lake. There were singers. dancers, instrumentalists, and comedy at it's corniest--thanks to Jessie Blum and Carol Io Fee who acted as the announcers of this production. Yes--everyone got into the spirit of things including Joe Bananna and his Bunch fwhoever they arej! Our show was such a success, perhaps it will turn into an annual affair. GIRLS' CHCRU ROW ONE: M. The Comets only loss was to Schaller 12-6. In this game we lost a touchdown at the closing minutes of the ball game when we fumbled the ball on the Schaller one yard line. Even though we had to share the title with Lytton we felt that we were the champs as we overwhelmed the Bulldogs by a score of 21-0. The Comets completely dominated the ball game scoring at will and holding Lytton to a minus yards rushing. Another high light of the 1966 season was the de- feating of Lake View -Auburn for the third year in a row an accomplishment that no other Wall Lake team has been able to master.
