PIG KI REVIEW 'Ihis season will long be remembered by the Wall Lake comrrnmity and student body. In the conference play the Comets finished the season with four wins, one loss, and one tie record which was good enough for second place. 'Ihe Comets opened their season with an im- pressive win over arch rival Odebolt by a score of 27-O. This marked the first time since 19147 that the Comets have been able to beat Odebolt. Returning home for their next game, Wall Lake got revenge for last year's lopsided score by overpowering Galva hl-O. 'Jhe Comets completely dominated the game, almost scoring at will. 'Ihe next week the Comets journeyed to Early. It wasn't until the third quarter that Wall Lake could get a sustained offensive drive under way. 'Ihe drive was climaxed by Leon Snyder plunging over from Early 's 8 yard line on an off tackle play. Ihe Comets played an outstanding defen- sive game limiting Early to IJ first downs. 'Ihe following week found the Comets facing a big and rugged Lake View team. Their size and depth proved to much as Wall Lake came out on the bottom side of the score for the first and only time this season. Then the Comets gat backinto the victory col- um with a 29-6 victory over Newell. Following their victory over Newell the Com- ets continued their winning march by downing Sohaller 7-O. The Comets traveled to Lytton for their final conference game of the year. This was a big one as a win or tie would give Wall Lake undisputed second place in conference play. 'Ihe highlight of this game was a I45 yard touch down run by Larry Karsten on a double reverse. Lytton bounced right back with the tying touchdown. 'Ihe final gun found Wall Lake taking to the air to try and put over the winning touchdown, bit time elapsed and the Comets had to settle for a tie. Simpeon's Comets climaxed the 1956 season with a decisive smash win over Correctionville. It was Wall Lake from the opening whistle to the final gun, as seven seniors gave their all in their last, battle for their Alma Mater. When the football guns silenced for another year, the record was 6-1-1. Our congratulations. to the coaches and squad for their outstanding work this year.
