THE SEASON ON THE COURT The 1939 Eagle squad completed a basketball season typical of its former posltion among the leaders in the Badlands Conference, by turning out 'runners up' in the conference and going to the semi finals in the 'district tournament By winning twelve of the thirteen conference games played the Eagles were a definite threat for the district tournament honors but missed championship nar rowly by losing to Philip in the semi finals. Junior Johnson placed on the all tournament first team and Clayton Norton and Bob Schone placed on the second team Clayton Norton was high point man of the season with 172 polnts followed by Junior Johnson with 136 points The Eagles made a total of 561 points as to their opponents 287 and won B of the 13 games played by more than fifteen points The team was composed of Junior Johnson and Clayton Norton as forwards, Bud Johnson as center and Bob Schone and Boyd Sebade as guards Cleo Martinson, Bruce Babcock and Orlin Winkowitsch did a creditable job as substitutes and played in a magority of the games Schedule They They Interior Cottonwood New Underwood New Underwood Quinn Martin Kadoka Murdo Cottonwood Oglala Scenic Belvidere Midland Quinn Quinn Philip Midland 26 Y , - !
