Jjfossagc from iHr. fell In many respects this has been a trying year for Walk¬ er ville Collegiate. When school opened in September we felt the loss of Major O’Brien and Lieut. White who had enlisted. Then on September 27 our beloved principal, Mr. J. L. McNaughton, was forced to leave us on account of illness. However, we are glad to learn that he is improving and that he will soon be with us again. Since Christmas two more of our teachers, Lieut. S. Bull and Lieut. Ian Allison have enlisted and are training at Camp Borden. Our records also show that 101 of our students or graduates are now serving in the active forces—76 of these are in the R. C. A. F. We are proud of the fact that so many have enlisted and are doing “their bit”, and I am certain that those who remain here feel that they must “carry on” and uphold the high standard set by previous students and teachers of the Walk¬ er ville Collegiate Institute. We have always been proud of our school, and we are going to do our best to uphold its fine traditions and record. W. N. BALL. Page Seven

(Smtings To All at Walkerville Collegiate: Throughout a long and persistent illness, I have missed my many pleasant associations at the Collegiate. However, I have followed with a great deal of interest reports and news items of your varied activities and I know that this school year has been a pleasant and profitable one for you. Please accept my most grateful thanks for the many kindnesses you have shown me during my illness. Yours very sincerely, J. L. McNAUGHTON. Page Six
