The Indians were Clountq Basketball Champs! FIRST ROW: Deloris Barden, Evan Rollings, George Kostin, T. Anderson, J. Guttman, I. DePoy, I. Cotton. SECOND ROW: Superintendent Radmacher, Rhea Cripe, Assistant Coach Robinson, T. McMahon, K, Baker, D. Groves, F. Shultz, Coach Smith, J. Johnson, B. Hopper, J. Martin, T. Ward. This year the Indians accomplished a feat which no other Walkerton team had accomplished for 28 years. They won the County Tournament! !! The Indians opened the tourney by defeating North Liberty 58 to 36. The second game was played against Washington Clay, who had drawn the bye. The Colonials caused trouble for the Indians most of the game, but in the final minutes of the fourth period, the Indians widened the gap to a 6 point margin. The score was 49 to 43 as the gun sounded ending the game. This victory put the Indians in the finals against a strong Lakeville team. In the finalgame, the two participating teams were each determined to make this a victory for its own town and school. In the opening minutes of play, the Trojans lead by a small margin, During the second period, the Indians played more accurately and slowed Lakevil1e's offense considerably. It was a see -saw type game the following 2 periods. The break came in the last minutes of the fourth period, showing a tiring Lakeville team and a still strong and dominating Indian Team. Then the Indians surged ahead to defeat the Trojans by a score of 55 to 45,

The above three girls were elected from the twelve who tired out. During the basketball season, these yell leaders missed no opportunity to lead the fans and help back the team all the way.
