TI-IE HOCKEY SEASCDN OCKEY this year was successtut in every way despite the war and the consequential tactc ot outside competition. For att this we must thantq Miss Brown, Mrs. Linton, and the Athtetic Board tor carrying out an entirety new program. The traditional atumnae game opened our season ofticiatty. The game was very ctose taut tjinatty the Varsity emerged victorious with a score of 3-1. With such great names as Verntund, Breed, Cooke, Lawrence, Carpenter, Barker, McClure, Watson and N. Hendrix representing the E. W. Varsity tor three years, no wonder the 1942 Varsity tett proud as they carried the traditionat cup from the Field. This constituted the onty outside game ptayed. taut a Junior Varsity was created which ted the Varsity a merry chaseiintit Finatty sutudued. To add gtamour an unotticiat Yate-Watter Hockey game was ptayed. Some Yate men, ted hy Chartotte Perryys brother HHoppy,U chattenged Watterys to a duet. Some amazing tricks of the trade were revealed to us innocents, and it is a wonder that everyone escaped unscathect. When the dust was cteared away we found the tinat score 4-1 in favor ot Yate with C. Berry our onty scorer. However, we received compen- sation hy the high praises they hestowed upon us concerning our prowess on the hoctcey field. The Sun-Diat competition was as usuat extremety ctose. The Suns, headed by Joan Vxfoodtord, succeeded outptaying the Dials in the tirst game 2-1. However, the Diats under the ahte captaincy of D.
