The Hockey Season HO could have asked for a beTTer hockey sea- son? The combinaTion of The wonderful spiriT and enThusiasm shown by boTh new and old girls on The hockey field made Miss Bowlby, Mrs. GilleTT. and in TacT all WalkeriTes fairly beam wiTh pleasure and pride. In Thinking back one could noT possibly overlook The genuine inTeresT shown ThroughouT The season and The desire To improve boTh for one's club and for The school. i ln The TirsT ouTside game of The year, ThaT wiTh The alums, our varsiTy followed TradiTion by winning. The alums puT up a good fighT, and are even more deTermined Than ever To come ouT on Top, so W f beware, nexT year's Walker V.l! Our nexT ouTside game, a spiriTed one wiTh The l-larTford Hurricanes, ended wiTh The score 6-3 in Tavor oT Walker's. We were noT To be so lucky in our following encounTer wiTh The Hurricanes , however, for The score was 4-I in Their favor. BuT This only broughT TorTh an even greaTer desire To win and in our final game we Tri- umphecl, giving us a maioriTy vicTory. This lasT game was a gay occasion, Tor we played on The l-larTTord field and enjoyed a delicious Tea given by one oT The players aTTer The exciTing evenT. This year we played WesTover insTead of Low-Heywood, and The day was a grand success. We won wiTh a score of 5-I for The TirsT Team and I-O for The second Team. The WesTover girls were wonderful Tun, noT only as compeTiTors buT as companions. Three Teams again played Rosemary This year, and The aTmosphere was aImosT more Tense Than before. Rosemary won The VarsiTy game 5-27 we won The second Team game 6-lg and The Third Team game proved a Tie. The banner was To go To The school winning Two ouT of Three games, buT since The ulTimaTe score was a Tie, neiTher school received iT. The Sun-Dial compeTiTion, accompanied by new rousing hockey cheers and songs, was equally exciTing. ConTrary To lasT year, The Suns came ouT ahead in The firsT Team game, winning Two ouT of The Three maTches, which made The shield poinTs 25 for The Suns againsT I4.6 for The Dials. As a resuIT of The second Team games The Dials secured I5 poinTs for The shield and The Suns 7.5. ln This series The score was a Tie beTween The Two Teams aT The end of The Third maTch, making a deciding game FTSCGSSGFY. Our wish is for you of nexT year To proceed onward and upward from This glorious season, and wiTh Miss Bowlby's and Mrs. GilleTT's conTinuous insTrucTion and inspiring inTeresT, for which we are all so deeply appreciaTive, we know iT will be anoTher perfecT year.
