The association gives every member of the student body a chance to take part in the school’s activities. The SCA has four officers who are elected by popular vote. Each homeroom also selects a representative to the SCA Council. Students are also provided the chance to gain poise and confidence through performance as well as an introduction to the theater arts. Students are tapped into the dub in the fall and spring. The dub tries to be of service to the teachers by helping with bulletin boards and working with students individually and in groups. Cordell 24 LE CERCLE FRANCAIS Le Cercle Francais est un Cercle pour faire accoitrel I’interet dans la langue, l’histoire, et la culture de la France. (The french club is a club who s aim is to enhance interest in the language, history and culture of France.) Le promoteur Mile. Cordell Le President- Byrd Oliver Le Vice President-Win Harrington Le Secretaire-Xavier Richardson Le Secretaire qui aide- Jeanette Rowe Le Tresorier—Susan Gregory 25 BAND The Walker-Grant Band is made up of 7th 8th Grade Students who are regularly enrolled in band as a class. The band plays for school assemblies and presents one Public Concert in conjunction witli the chorus in the Sp ring. Qualified 8th grade students get a chance to participate in the Regional Band and the Area Band Clinic. m 26 CHORUS The Chorus consists of approximately 60 members. At the present, it includes all the students taking music. The Chorus sings mostly popular songs and gives several performances a year. The Chorus is under the direction of Miss Mandy Carr. SPECIAL SINGING GROUP The Special Singing Group is an auditioned group. Students are selected at the beginning of the school year on their vocal ability and ability to read music. This group performs for school functions, churches and clubs in the area. 27 The Hall Monitors welcome visitors to Walker-Grant. They also help main¬ tain order in the halls during classes, investigate hall passes, and check lockers. 28 OFFICE ASSISTANTS The Office Assistants are very sincere, dedicated and energetic students. They are always willing to do whatever they can TO HELP WITH OFFICE CHORES. We salute our Office Assistants. LIBRARY ASSISTANTS The Library Assistants give up their free period to help the librarian. They check books in and out, put up bulletin boards, keep the shelves straight and many other jobs in the library. Their help is necessary to run the library efficiently. 29 Wr GYMNASTICS CLUB The Girl ' s Gymnastics Club is an organization that gives girls interested in gymnastics an opportunity to practice at least once a week on skills and combine these in routines in the following area of gymnastics; tumbling and floor exercise, balance beam, uneven parallel bars, and vaulting. Members hope to give demonstrations, compete with each other, and take trips to see regional and state meets on the high school level. President—Pepe Hiers Treasurer—Phyllis Terrell ' X X PEP CLUB Advisors—Miss Penny Smith Mrs. Debra Myers The Pep Club gives interested students an opportunity to help create spirit and enthusiasm within the school. Members of the Pep Club make posters and banners publishing basketball games and displaying school spirit. They also go to basketball games and help the cheerleaders cheer for the Walker-Grant Trojans. 31 BASKETBALL THIS IS ONLY PART OF THE WALKER- GRANT BASKETBALL TEAM. AT THE TIME THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN THEIR REC¬ ORD WAS 9-0. 32 The Walker-Grant Cheerleaders this year are a hard-working group of Seventh and Eighth Grade girls.
