Walker dominated the game both offensively and defensively. The Vikings compiled 310 yards total offense as the defense held Austin to only a little over 100 yards. Two field goals in the first and second quarter put Walker in the dressing room with a 6-0 halftime lead. The defense shut-out Austin in the second half also and quarterback David Hood scored running around the end for the offense. The Austin Black Bears were unable to generate any offense in either half. Thus, ofter a determined team effort, Walker walked off the field with their first victory of 1974. 138 Jackie Odom - Senior Safety 1 -, -A -- Vfayr, ,,j: Steve Evans - Senior Defensive End 40 , Q' Q., Mike Adkins - Junior Split End , ve ir: , , , ,ii 3 A 'V I 5 ,.VL, ggi, 3 my I N 13' it sl' Joe Jenkins - Junior Tommy Knight - Junior Linebacker Guard M . was LQ 95,6112 0 The week following the Vikings shut-out over Austin, the enthusiastic team was matched against the Fayette Tigers. The Viking defense held Fayette to 146 yards rushing and 16 passing. On the first drive of the game, the Vikings drove 56 yards to the Tigers 11 yard line. But, suffering 2 penalties, and an interception, Walker had no possession of the ball in the remaining few minutes of the first quarter.
