Lorraine Chiappetta The 1970-71 Cheerleaders demonstrated tremendous pep and spirit throughout the football and basketball' seasons. With all the energy they had to offer, the squad led spec- tators in cheering on the teams. During the summer months, the varsity squad practiced and competed in the Cheer- leading Clinic at Glassboro State College. For the second consecutive year, they re- ceived the prestigious spirit stick for out- standing enthusiasm. The Junior Varsity and Freshmen cheer- leaders also displayed spirit during the sports seasons. This was the first year that a fresh- men squad was organized. Both squads cheered for all football and basketball games which is also a newly instituted idea and an example of their desire to serve the teams and the school. Connie Middleton, Co-Captain

Marching Band The Marching Band, under the direction of Mr. Laurent Gareau, assisted by the band's President, Marion-Rose LaPlante, has worked diligently this year to produce colorful half-time shows. The 64- piece band, composed of high school students, performs such ar- rangements as The Russian's Rou- tine , a Spanish Show and a Pop Show . The band members devote much of their time to practicing for their Saturday performances at foot- ball games. Spectators will agree that WHS has a band they can definitely be proud of.
