New York University 'Color Guard Advisor Girls' Intramurals Physical Education The physical education depart- ment teaches the individual to sup- plement mental strength with phys- ical strength and to abide by rules which can be incorporated into the ways of living. A driver education program that teaches both theory and behind the wheel training is also included in this department. School Nurse The school nurse is a busy and resourceful person. She aids the doc- tor with physical examinations, gives tine tests to freshmen and seniors, and performs the simple necessities such as applying bandages and ad- ministering to gym casualties. The students are trained in wood shop, metal shop, machine shop, and mechani- cal drawing. A new course, auto mechanics, teaches seniors how to disassemble, check and reassemble various parts of the automobile, as well as the theory behind the systems. Those who take courses for all four years of high school can be- come very skilled in advanced cook- ing or clothes design. Family Living, offered to senior girls, discusses the psychological and physical needs of the family. Home Economics Mrs. Barbara Yager B.S. University of Connecticut Psychology Club Advisor Remedial Reading Remedial reading courses help a student to read more efficiently and develop good study habits. Students are also given help with diffi- cult assignments, College bound students can take a speed-reading course to aid them with the heavy college workload. The Albert C. Tice Memorial Library is not only a library but the heart of our school. It is an information center which contains a wide selection of books, microfilms, news- papers, records, filmstrips, magazines, and other reference materials. The library is an equal aid to both students and faculty. Our librarians and their aides are always available to help a person in his research.
