This is Mr. Bell s first year as skipper of the baseball team, and it appears that it will be a happy one. After a few sub-par games at the beginning of the season, the Warriors have settled down and are play- ing the kindlof baseball Waldwick is accustomed to. Anchored by a Senior battery of john Lanchantin Cpitcherj, John Guglielmorti Ccatcherl, and Rich O'Connor and Phil Ciulla holding down the corners, the Warriors do not lack defense. At the plate, the team is led by Senior Sluggers Al Samaniego and Steve De Nardo, with help from underclassmen Wayne Cassidy and Brian Pfleger. 1 5 2 Close Play! Baseball Guggy does the job

Lead by Seniors Rich Hankison, Ian Simpson, and Tom Denniston, and anchored by a squad of Sophomores, the Warriors opened the season with a 3-2 win over Park Ridge, a loss to Leonia, and a 4-1 win over Midland Park. At this time, Waldwick is two and three and appears to be headed for a successful season. The future also looks bright with the top-four seeded players being Sophomores Peter Keller, Brad Morris, Ron Cook, and Steve Floroff. Indeed, Coach McNeilly has reason to be optimistic.
