They give of themselves, their ideas and their feelings on a subject. They excite our interest and encourage us to formulate our own ideas. This exchange of ideas may meet with re- sistance because teachers are shaping the lives of some determined students, not only those who accept facts without question. It's gratifying to know that a teacher is always present as a ready listener and a reliable source of advice. 6

With our hands We build buildings, complete tasks, and share in lighter moments. Hands can express our emotions, our enthusiasm, or our need for contact with others. The gentle touch of a hand can show love and consideration for someone. Our friends, the people with whom we are in close contact, leave the greatest impressions upon us. A smile and a kind word can make one happy for the rest of the day. In the tensions and hur- riedness of the school day, a companion can make the passing easier. The opinions of others that emerge from class discussions can influence our ways of thinking. Involvement in certain activities stimulates others to take an interest in different areas.
